Jackets and Dress Code
As shared in December, we will be enforcing the dress code as in relates to jackets. The only acceptable colors for jackets are royal blue, light gray or white.  Any jacket or hoodie purchased in the school store or distributed by a team or club is acceptable. 

Understanding Your Child's PSAT Score
On Thursday evening we will be distributing PSAT scores and will be providing more information about what they mean and how to use them to support your child.  

If you are unable to attend the meeting, your child will receive their score reports on the Tuesday, 1/17 during Advocacy.  

UIL Academics Competition
POMS is back on top of the academics and speech competition world following a 1st place showing this Saturday at HISD's 3rd UIL Middle School Tournament of 16-17 at Yates HS.

The squad also took home 1st place Team Trophies for Number Sense, Art, Music Memory, Listening, Spelling, and, a new UIL category - Chess Puzzles!  Congratulations to our fierce team!

School Wide Spelling Bee
On Friday our ELA Department hosted our annual school wide spelling bee.  Eighteen students from grades 6, 7 and 8 competed to represent Pin Oak in the District Spelling Bee. Congratulations to our winner Andrew Tan and our runner up Alex Xu.   

POMS Hosts Education Students from Northern Illinois University
This week two students from Northern Illinois University will be shadowing teachers in our Science and Physical Education Departments.  We are thrilled to host these pre-service educators while they learn more about public education in Texas.  Please join me in welcoming Sarah Paver in Physical Education and Ashley Grazutis in Science.
