Fitness Track Update
Last Chance to Purchase Your Paver!
Because of the incredible generosity of the Pin Oak community, we will be finalizing the details for construction of the 1/2 mile concrete fitness track that will encircle the POMS green space and athletic fields in the coming weeks.  We are thrilled to announce that we have cleared the permit process. Engraving request forms will be sent out next week. Construction will begin in June with the goal to finish the project before school begins in August.

You can still be part of this important project and have your name or personal message engraved in the paver walkway that will connect the existing walkway to the new concrete fitness track.  Make your donation today to secure your paver at http://pinoakpto.org/fitnesstrack/.

Questions about the project?  Contact Courtney Tardy at cktardy@yahoo.com

What is Pin Oak Idol?
Pin Oak Idol, a longstanding tradition at Pin Oak, is one of the most anticipated events each year.  Students have auditioned and been selected to compete for the title of Pin Oak Idol! Students may purchase tickets during the lunch periods this week!

Theatre Auditions
Auditions for next year’s Advanced and Intermediate theatre classes will be May 3 and 4 from 3:35-6:30 PM.  Students should pick up the audition packet from the Main Office or from Ms. Boffone in the Caja Negra.

Algebra Qualifier Test and Informational Meeting
Each year we identify students who would benefit from the opportunity to take Algebra before 9th grade.  Algebra is a high school course that starts the high school math sequence, but is sometimes offered to students in middle school.  At Pin Oak we use an assessment that measures Algebra readiness, and consider that information along with each student's performance history in mathematics.

Parents may join us Monday, May 1st at 6:30 p.m. to learn about the various course sequences for higher level mathematics and the process for identifying students for advanced math.

POMS Triathlon Team
The following students signed up for the Houston Texans Kids Triathlon and listed POMS as their team.  The Tri team is having shirts made and we don’t want to exclude anyone. Please look at this list and if your child’s name is missing, please email sandjmalin@hotmail.com and let her know.  The shirt order is due 4/23.

It’s not too late...
Help raise money for our new Track (no try outs - everyone can join)
